Snowshoe outing in Pic de la Dona

Snowshoe outing in Pic de la Dona

The Pic de la Dona (“the Woman’s Summit”) is a peak located in the ski resort of Vallter 2000, about a two-hour drive from Barcelona. This top of 2,704 metres is a perfect area for an initiation into the snowshoes field. We will start from 2,200 metres high and will progressively ascend to the saddle of Manet, while we enjoy the subalpine forests that the region of Ripollès presents us and learn a little about the area and its flora and fauna. We will undoubtedly be greatly surprised! Once we arrive to the saddle of Mantet (45 minutes) we will continue to Pic de la Dona (an extra hour), a way that will seem very brief to us, due to its lack of too steep ascents. We will ascend the rounded slopes of the mountain, what will not mean any extra effort and before than what we could expect, we will reach the top of 2,704 metres. Goal accomplished! This summit will offer us a wide panoramic view, from where we will be able to observe the peak of Costabona, the top of Bacivers and also our neighbour mountains such as the Carlit one. Afterwards, we will keep walking for a while along an easy path until we get to the

saddle of the Geganta (“the Female Giant”), from where we will finally descend to the car park.
