Outing with snowshoes in the Pedró dels Quatre Batlles

This route to the Pedró dels Quatre Batlles (‘the Stone of the Four Majors’) is located in the area of Solsona (the pre-Pyrenees). It starts in the car park of Estivella of the ski resort of Port del Compte, at 1,935 metres. We will take the path to the Pedró dels Quatre Batlles (2,386 m), where the first ascent will warm us up. Then, we will continue progressively, making different stops to learn a little of the history of the place and its flora and fauna. We will reach the top of the Pedró dels Quatre Batlles, the highest peak of the region, where we will enjoy the wonderful views of the Pre-Pyrenees and the Pyrenees. After enjoying the views of the mountain chain of Port del Compte (“the Earl’s Mountain Pass”), we will be heading to Tossa Pelada (2,379 m). After reaching this top, we will leave to Forat de la Bòfia (“Bòfia Hole”) (2,048 m), to make a circular route where, after a while, we will get to the car park where we had left our vehicles.

Itinerary: Car Park of Estivella - Pedró dels Quatre Batlles - Tossa Pelada - Forat de la Bòfia – car park of Estivella.

Slope: 590 metres within 10.8 kilometres of route.

​

Duration: 6 hours approximately.

 

Difficulty: Moderate.​

​

Equipment required: Sunglasses (minimum protection factor: 3 o 4), waterproof hiking boots, two or three pairs of thick socks, thermal pants and T-shirt (first layer), warm pants (second layer), waterproof jacket and pants (third layer), waterproof gloves, another pair of warm gloves and spare ones. Headlamp, a change of clothes and a mountain backpack of about 30 litres.  A sleeping bag is also required.

Food and drink that need to be brought: Water (at least a canteen of 1 litre) and, to eat, food-bars, one or two sandwiches minimum and some piece of fruit.

Meeting point: We will meet in the car park of the ski slopes of Port del Comte.
